β€œWe specialise in helping people feel at ease with their cameras, offering warm, accessible and friendly guidance.”

Get to know your camera in a relaxed 2 hour workshop at The Sheffield Darkroom.

Bring any camera - digital, film, DSLR, mirrorless or compact - and we’ll help you understand how it works, what the main settings do and how to start making photographs with more confidence and intention.

Available as a 1:1 session or up to 6 people booking together.

Who is it for?

This beginner camera workshop is for complete beginners, anyone stuck on Auto mode, or anyone who has bought, inherited or rediscovered a camera and wants to feel more confident using it.

No prior knowledge is needed.

What will you learn?

In this practical 2 hour session, we’ll cover the core foundations of photography: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure, focus, light, your camera’s main controls and how to use them all effectively.

The aim is to help you understand what your camera is doing, so you can make clearer creative decisions.

How it works?

The workshop is built around your own camera - whatever camera it is.

We’ll talk through the basics, look at your settings, answer your questions and, if time allows, spend part of the session shooting so you can put it into practice.

After booking, we’ll contact you to arrange a suitable time.

β€œThe session was relaxed, friendly and practical - exactly what I needed.”
